There is nothing quite like being a business owner, to understand what running a business is really like. From the classical ‘garage’ startup to a now successful medium-sized company, Sean has walked the walk and since 2018 has been benefiting other SME’s in growing their businesses.
As a ‘time-poor’, ‘juggling too many balls’, business owner, I found the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur enormous. I was invited to some of the traditional network meetings, but found them of limited value. I was then invited to the Knowledge Gym (which I think went belly up during the GFC), I loved it and even started to take along key staff members.
At the Knowledge Gym, we met with a few hundred other businesses and had some great guest speakers lined up. These were relevant, inspiring, business-growing sessions :). I also realized there was a downside, and this was the quick downward tail to the inspiration that we built up during the meeting. There had to be a better option.
Well, it took a decade before I started to work on that better format, and this became BIG.
As I was coaching clients 1-1, I often quoted learnings and insights from other businesses, and then when I taught something new I had no option but to think, ‘why am I teaching the same thing so many times?’ Would it not be better if I could teach a group of business owners all at the same time? You bet!
From my personal experience, and this was backed up by research undertaken by Business Mentors, that business ownership is a lonely journey. Despite your world being so busy, the choices, decisions and responsibilities weigh on everyone differently, and for nearly everyone, they have a feeling of ‘loneliness’. Where and how do you address this?
BIG addresses many of the challenges that SME owners face, which include: Learning : Inspiring : Problem Solving
BIG has been operating in Silverdale since 2018, however, since the Pandemic, our meetings went online (Zoom), which was great as it allowed members further afield to also attend. Nowadays we operate with a hybrid model, alternating between online and venue meetings.
If you are committed to growing your business, improving your leadership, to improve the satisfaction you get from your business, then you need to consider if BIG is the right fit for you.
